San Diego is made up with distinct neighborhoods and to live like a local you need to explore their diversity. Of course, San Diego has plenty of sun-drenched beaches, but there’s more to explore!


Unwind from your travels with a complimentary welcome cocktail before borrowing a complimentary beach cruiser from our concierge. Head south to Mission Beach on the flat boardwalk running parallel to the hotel.

Make a splash on the rooftop restaurant, Cannonball, with San Diego’s best ocean views, sushi and beach craft cocktails. San Diego boasts beautiful sunsets and we like to celebrate them by stopping everything to ogle! Locals and tourists alike gather around the fire pits at Cannonball to catch of glimpse of the green flash as the sun meets the ocean.

Post dinner, tap into San Diego’s craft brew scene at Draft Mission Beach. With 200+ breweries calling San Diego home, you’d never be able to try them all. With 69 handles on tap and an expansive bottle list, Draft gives you the chance to try the most noteworthy offerings. A visit to San Diego isn’t complete without sampling a West Coast IPA. Big and hoppy, many claim this style was born in San Diego. It’s unique for it’s hop forward and citrusy. A locale favorite is Ballast Point’s Sculpin.

San Diegans get wet year round. Pacific Beach has a sandy, beach break and is a good spot for beginners to get their board’s wet. Arrange a lesson with San Diego Surf School and they’ll provide soft boards and wetsuits.

For an unforgettable adventure, explore the La Jolla Ecological Reserve by kayak. Paddle to sandstone sea caves and along La Jolla’s beautiful shore. The reserve is 6000 acres of tidelands and ocean bottom and a haven for leopard sharks, garibaldi and dolphins.

12pm Liberty Public Market
Liberty Public Market is a food hall packed with outposts of the city’s hippest restaurants and food trucks. Local faves include West Bean Coffee Roasters and Venissimo Cheese. This is also a great place to pick up souvenirs for your foodie friends. A former Naval Training Center, Liberty Station offers a full calendar of events for every season from free lawn concert to holiday ice skating and more.

3pm Balboa Park
Home to 17 museums, multiple performing arts venues and the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park packs a lot of attractions into one stop. And while you can do a ton there, it’s also a great place to do nothing. Take advantage of San Diego’s sunny skies to wander through beautifully kept gardens including the free admission Botanical Building, soak up the interesting architecture or take in an outdoor concert at the Sprekels Organ Pavilion.

7pm JRDN
Head back to Tower23 to dine at the signature restaurant, JRDN. This is where to dine at the beach! Contemporary California cuisine is served footsteps from the beach among San Diego’s most beautiful people. This buzzed about restaurant is a San Diego favorite and repeatedly racks up accolades. Cozy up on the Tower Deck for a night cap by the fire pit. .

9am Little Italy
Don’t let the name fool you, while you will find top notch Italian food in Little Italy, the chefs that call this neighborhood home serve inspired dishes from all over the world. From ramen at Underbelly to fried chicken at Crack Shack, there is something for every taste. Brunch favorites include Prep Kitchen and Ballast Point.

12pm Midway
A visit to the USS Midway is great way to understand how important the military is to SD’s culture. With more than 60 exhibits and 29 restored aircraft, this really, really big boat makes visitors feel really small.

3pm Tacos
Taco about love, San Diegan’s love their tacos. Anyone and everyone you ask will have an opinion on the best tacos. San Diego also claims to have invented the California burrito; a tantalizing combination of carne asada, cheese, sour cream and french fries. Best eaten AFTER the beach! And like a real San Diegan, we can’t pick just one favorite spot. Lucha Libre pays homage to Mexico’s masked wrestlers, luchadores, with pink walls and gold seats. Oscar’s Mexican Seafood is quick from the hotel and serves authentic fish tacos with amazing sauces.

7pm North Park
Spot a hipster in their natural setting. North Park is a locals neighborhood bursting with interesting bars, cool cafes and a dynamic nightlife. Catch a show0 at North Park Observatory, a 1929 theater that hosts an eclectic mix of musical acts spanning rock, electronica and hip hop. Pop into home good phenom Pigment for beautifully curated home goods and gifts
